Slacker

I'm a total slacker. So much has happened since my last post; where to begin? As they say in The Princess Bride, "go back to the beginning." Well, I won't bore you with details or endless verbage, but just to say that time is certainly flying by. Reagan is almost 20 months now and is getting so big. She's quite the talker and is so very expressive...wonder who she gets that from? On Monday we sang Itsy Bitsy Spider and did the hand movements..to my surprise, she knew them all. Smart kid...though I think they must have taught them the song in daycare not too long ago...

We've had a fairly busy summer what with weddings (two down, one to go), bike rides/races (one down, one to go..so far), reunions, travels, etc...we're a busy clan!

So here's hoping that I can share with you some of our adventures (both in the recent past..soon to be updated, and our upcoming ones, too) and be better at updates.

All the best,
The Wrights

The Hunt @ Home...

Not sure that Reagan needed any practice the day before her first egg hunt at home; she's a champ when it comes to finding eggs and carrying a bucket! Enjoy!

Easter Egg Hunt

Today we took Reagan on her first ever egg hunt at Burnet Park. It was quite a mob scene, as evidenced by the crowd and video that the news took, but we had a great time anyway. We met up with our friends Bill & Kelly and their son Emmet (Bill & Emmet seen in photo just behind Reagan).
Once we figured out what was going on, James and Bill took the kids through the line while Kelly and I staked out a place to take pics. Probably 10 minutes after the boys took the kids, the next group of little kids got to line up for the "hunt". Well, Reagan just decided that she didn't want to wait any longer and proceeded down the hill to the eggs. She picked up about 18 eggs before the other kids were signaled to go. It was a little embarassing, but Reagan got her eggs and got out before she got trampled. It was cute.

Here she is all by herself, heading down to the eggs on the far right and in the middle of the eggs on the left. Such a big girl!
So, will we do it again next year? Yeah, I think so, but I think we'll either head over to the park much earlier or much later. There were probably 400 kids there...so lesson learned.
Happy Easter! Love, The Wrights

Unsloppy Joes?

So we were all prepared. We decided that we'd try sloppy joes for dinner...perhaps a first in our household (yeah, try to figure that one out) and certainly a first for Reagan. I was mentally ready for a bath to follow dinner...and then...well, her picture says it all. What a dainty little eater! What you see here is all we got! Clean up with a wipe!
I don't know how it's possible to not get a little dirty with sloppy joes...especially if you're 1! James (definitely not 1) got his shirt dirty...(but not me!) But, I have to say that it was a great dinner all the way around, though. It's nice to see Reagan finally eat dinner with us and enjoy it! Hopefully no more midnight feedings!

What is it with kids?

To all you Moms out there, let me pose this question...What is it with kids? Some days, we have the most prescious, most soft spoken, polite little girl...then other days, like today, a little monster rears its ugly head. It even sticks around after nap! I am hopeful that because tomorrow is another day, the little monster will go back where it came from and let Reagan be the wonderful, sweet little girl that she almost always is.
Time to run...she's only a little over two hours into night-night and she's not having fun...hopefully we get some rest! Wish us luck!

A little cleaner

So no judgments on the floor please; I had a helper! In all seriousness though, Reagan had been following me around the rest of the house while I was swiffering the floor. She kept reaching for the handle and James figured we could take some of the extensions out of the handle to right-size it for Reagan. She LOVED it! So, perhaps we can clean together (though just like the kitchen floor, I'm going to have to follow behind her to get it to my level of clean, but it's a start!)?

Finally!

I must apologize...it has been forever since I last updated this thing. It's been one thing after another; work, holidays, computer crashes, software updates, picture uploads...ahh...it never ends. BUT, what's important is that I am updating it now!

To catch you up, we've had a tough couple of weeks with Reagan; she's been teething like crazy, she had the belly bug and then a week later ended up with pneumonia and a double ear infection. She's been particularly difficult with her eating habits...she'll eat just about anything at school, but forget it when it comes to eating dinner here - she's been living on yogurt, bread and oatmeal. Don't say it! I'm annoyed, but we'll get through it!

So by now, Reagan is almost 15 months old (my how time flies) and is in to everything. She's totally in love with her Eric Carle flashcards and wants to play every night...her favorite "letters" are for Monkey, Hippo, Duck and Rooster. She has even figured out how to quack like a duck, sort of anyway, and wave her arms like a monkey. And I think she just likes the hippo card because it's blue and that's her favorite color!
She's quite the little lady, I must say. She's growing up so fast...

Today...

This video was taken this afternoon between naps. Reagan has decided that she loves her coats and took this one to bed with her for nap #1 and then put it on after, only to keep it on for nap #2. I am reminded of my dogs in their winter sweaters...not pleasant. Anyway, I promised my Mom that I would take some video and post it once I was more familiar with my new video camera (thanks Mom & Dad). I started out taking the video kind of late...about 1 minute or so into her little routine, but it's cute, none the less. And if you listen close enough, I think she's singing Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Happy Viewing!
